How can young people today leverage the possibilities around technology to build, sustain and scale startups that solve the most pressing social issues?

The MITEF Enterprise Forum Pan Arab ‘Innovate for Refugees’ competition is centered around this theme with a view to encouraging and rewarding tech-driven social entrepreneurship among youth to support refugees worldwide.

First launched on the ‘World Refugee Day’ in 2016, the idea behind this prestigious competition is to find and reward innovative tech-driven solutions for life-threatening challenges faced by refugees worldwide.

When launched, the initiative pulled together over 30 community partner organizations who have helped in spreading the word and running local events to raise awareness on the challenges faced by refugees and in encouraging individuals to team up and innovate possible solutions.

The initiative has facilitated USD 250,000 in equity-free investments, having received more than 3000 innovative solutions from over 50 participating countries with a commendable 25% of refugee participants who share a common vision of empowering and supporting refugees worldwide through tech-driven social enterprises.
