The notion of supporting and encouraging the professional development of Arab Women in leadership, business and entrepreneurship has been trending across the Arab world. The 4th edition of the AWILB Summit had the same as the focal element of discussions.
Organised in association with the UAE Genetic Diseases Association and under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Cabinet Member and Minister of State for Tolerance UAE and President of UAE Genetic Disease Foundation, the summit was held in Dubai on April 25 and 26, at the Dusit Thani.
Keynotes, panel discussions, interviews and networking were key components of the two-day summit, which brought together Arab professionals, entrepreneurs, executives and leaders of diverse backgrounds to highlight the role of women in modern communities and in national development.
A panel titled ‘Women Engineers Instrumental for National Growth’ was one of the most awaited sessions at the summit on day one. The panelists discussed challenges, shared viewpoints and exchanged ideas as to how Emirati and Arab women could contribute to community development, working together towards the UAE Vision 2021 and other goals, as technology underpins various aspects of life. A key takeaway from the panel was the development of ‘Women Networks’, which will have a key role in supporting the transition from classrooms to workplaces for Arab youth.
Furthermore, in a subsequent session, Her Excellency Amna Al Nakhi, the Director General of the Government of Sharjah emphasized that there is a need for public and private organizations today to open doors to more professional opportunities for females in the region and that partnerships between Governments and the private sector for CSR initiatives would catalyse development.
Finally, she proposed that passion, fueled by hard work and effective implementation will help women make a mark and advised young women to be enthusiastic and constantly on the lookout for opportunities to learn, grow and explore the world around.
Over two days of the summit, various other sessions facilitated knowledge-exchange, critical thinking and networking among delegates, through various informative discussions.
YAL is glad to be a supporting partner for the 4th Edition of AWILB, since, the values and objectives of this event conform to YAL’s goals of encouraging and fostering the professional growth of Arab women, in business as well as entrepreneurship.
