Dubai, UAE - 9 October 2018: Many students aged 7-15 years old have submitted their applications for The KidPreneur Award. The event was conducted by BizWorld UAE in partnership with Young Arab Leaders (YAL), Lovin Dubai and LetsWork. It was held at Rove Dubai Marina, Dubai, on the 7th of October 2018.
The finalists' ideas were focused on providing business solutions for e-payment, environment, education, leadership, disaster response in humanitarian contexts, fashion and the food industry.
Ten finalists had the opportunity to present and pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges and then respond to a series of questions. The judges were Mr. Kris Fade, radio presenter at Virgin Radio Dubai, Mr. Magnus Olsson, Co-founder and Chief Navigator at Careem, Mrs. Nabra Al Busaidi, Executive Director at Young Arab Leaders, and Mr. Wissam Younane, CEO at BNC Publishing.
This year’s KidPreneur winner was Sean Sanoop George whose business idea, Read Swap Repeat (RSR), focuses on education with the aim of protecting and conserving the environment. “Read Swap Repeat (RSR) protects trees from being cut by installing community bookshelves to give a new life to old books,” said Sean Sanoop George, RSR creator. “Since 2017, RSR has successfully saved more than 1,000 old books and assembled six bookshelves across the UAE which reached around 2,000 families.”
On the other hand, the youngest entrepreneur in the competition, Rahaf from Dubai National School, said, “I know that my market is big. Everybody loves fashion accessories. In the nearest future, my focus will be on female accessories for teenagers”.
Since 2017, YAL has been collaborating with BizWorld UAE on 2 KidPreneur editions.
